Story & Savoir-Faire

60 years after the first Diptyque candle, a new chapter is being written with the first scented candles for which the Maison also offers refills.

The collection “Les Mondes de Diptyque” (“The Worlds of Diptyque”) allows us to see and smell little-known places, adding a dash of extra soul to the mix. A saga in 5 volumes, each candle relating the history of the location it embodies in curls of fragrant smoke. Each candle opens a doorway to a different, faraway world. It's an opportunity to enjoy an interlude outside time itself, spent in exploration of beauty.

Each of these candles was conceived to last through multiple lifetimes, and can easily be refilled with your scent of choice – so the journey never ends.

Each candle from "Les Mondes de Diptyque" resembles a colored glass monolith – a striking oval comprising three stacked tiers and recalling the outline that symbolizes the Maison. A work of consummate glass-making expertise, imagined with designer Cristina Celestino.

Each scent in the collection is an authentic olfactory narrative imagined by Olivia Giacobetti, long established as a perfumer for Diptyque. The perfumes of candles from "Les Mondes de Diptyque" are characterized by their urgency, their diversity and the high quality of the raw materials used – itself a calling card of Diptyque’s expertise as a perfumer.

Directions for use & Characteristics

Each candle from the collection "Les Mondes de Diptyque" is an exceptional product requiring particular care and attention.

Prepare your space- Place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface.
- Protect delicate materials such as wood or marble with a stand or tray.
- Keep candles away from flammable materials.
- Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.

Light the candle- We recommend lighting your candle with a match to avoid any risk of burning yourself.
- During the first burn, make sure to let the candle burn until a uniform pool of melted wax has formed (about 5 hours depending on the scent). This prevents the wax from tunneling and allows the wick to absorb the wax properly, ensuring an even burn thereafter. Wicks may produce a small amount of smoke when first lit.

While burning- Do not burn the candle for more than 5 hours at a time after the first burn.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Do not move a burning or unlit hot candle.
- Keep it away from draft.
- Leave at least 10 cm (4 inches) between two candles.

After each use- Snuff out the flame: use a snuffer to avoid splashing hot wax.
- Re-center the wick once the candle is out.
- Before relighting your candle, use a wick trimmer to trim the wick (ideal length: 3 to 5 mm) to avoid risk of fire.

Final note- Stop using your candle once there is only 5 mm of wax left or the metal wick sustainer base becomes visible.

After care & storage- We recommend airing out the room after burning a candle.
- Allow the wax to cool completely before moving your candle.
- Store it in a dry, temperate place (15 °C–25 °C / 59 °F–77 °F), away from direct sunlight to avoid discoloration, pigmentation or dislodge of the wax.

To refill it:- When around 5 mm of wax remains at the bottom or the metal wick support is visible, the candle is finished.
- Once the wax has cooled, place the candle jar inside a bowl of water heated to 60°C, with the water halfway up the height of the candle jar. Wait for 2 minutes to allow the wax time to soften.
- Lift the candle jar out of the water, then slide the blade of a round-tipped knife between the vessel and the edges of the remaining block of softened wax, then slide the knife under the wax. Pop out the wax and dispose of it in the trash.
- Wash and dry the inside of the vessel.
- Pull back the flaps on either side of the inner sleeve to open it, then place the wax refill into the vessel.
Your candle is now ready for use.

- Suitable for medium-sized and large rooms
- Fragrance gradually released and persistent (optimal after around 20 minutes).
- There is no limit on the size of the space as long as you keep an eye on the candle.
- Volume: 270g
- Burning time: around 60 hours
- Size: length 10cm; width 10cm; height 7cm

Client Service guides you

Several factors influence the burn time of a Diptyque candle: the size and ventilation of the room, the nature and concentration of the its maintenance.

As a guide, here are the average burn times by size:

- Miniatures (35g): approximately 10 hours
- Small size (70g): approximately 20 hours
- Classic size (190g): approximately 50 hours
- Les Mondes de Diptyque (270g): approximately 60 hours
- Medium size (300g): approximately 75 hours
- Large size (600g): approximately 90 hours
- Very large size (1.5kg): approximately 120 hours
- Giant size (5kg): approximately 300 hours

A handcrafted creation of exceptional quality, your Diptyque candle deserves the utmost care. Here are some tips to optimise its lifespan and enjoy it safely.

Prepare the space
- Place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface.
- Protect delicate materials such as wood or marble with a base or a tray.
- Keep candles away from flammable materials.
- Keep candles out of reach of children and animals.

Lighting the candle
- We recommend lighting your candle with a match to avoid any risk of burns.
- On first use, make sure to let the candle burn until its entire surface is liquid:

About 2 hours for miniature candles (35g), depending on the fragrance
About 4 hours for small candles (70g), classic candles (190g), medium candles (300g), large candles (600g) and very large candles (1.5kg)
About 5 hours for Les Mondes de Diptyque candles

This prevents tunnelling and allows the wick to soak up the wax properly, ensuring even burning afterwards. The wick may emit a slight smoke on first lighting.

While burning
- After the first use, do not let the candle burn for more than:

2 hours at a time for miniature candles (35g)
4 hours at a time for small candles (70g), classic candles (190g), medium candles (300g), large candles (600g) and very large candles (1.5kg)
5 hours at a time for Les Mondes de Diptyque candles

- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Do not move a burning or still-hot candle.
- Keep it away from draughts.
- Leave at least 10 cm (4 inches) between two candles.

After each use
- Extinguish the flame: use a snuffer to avoid splattering hot wax.
- Re-centre the wick(s) once the candle is extinguished.
- Before relighting your candle, use a wick trimmer to cut the wick(s) (ideal length: 3 to 5 mm) to avoid any risk of fire.

End of use
- Stop using your candle when only 5 mm of wax remains or when the metal wick holder becomes visible. Care and storage - We recommend airing the room after burning a candle.
- Allow the wax to cool completely before moving your candle.
- Store it in a dry, temperate place (15 °C–25 °C / 59 °F–77 °F), away from direct sunlight to prevent the wax from discoloring, staining, or coming away from the glass.

For more information regarding usage tips:

- Miniature candles:

- Small candles (70g)

- Classic candles (190g)

- Exclusive candles (270g)

- Medium candles (300g)

- Large candles (600g)

- Very large candles (1500g)

When 5 mm of wax remain or the metal wick holder is visible, it's time to give your candle a second life.

Step 1
After the last use, it is recommended to let the candle cool down completely so that the wax solidifies and the glass returns to its normal temperature.

Step 2
To remove the wax:
- Place the candle in a heat-resistant bowl, itself placed in a sink
- Pour water at about 60°C up to halfway, making sure not to get any inside the candle
- Leave for two minutes before taking out the jar by holding it at the top

Step 3
The wax will then come off easily by sliding a rounded blade between the wax and the side of the glass. The jar can then be washed by hand with a non-abrasive sponge and La Droguerie washing-up liquid, or in the dishwasher.

Black marks can be removed once the candle is extinguished using a cloth soaked in hot soapy water or by using La Droguerie multi-purpose spray.

Make sure to not leave any moisture on the glass or the wax before relighting the candle.
